Medicine Partnerships

Your Pathway to Medical School

Keuka College has established strategic partnerships to offer our students seamless pathways to various medical professions. Through our Early Acceptance Programs (EAPs), eligible students can gain early acceptance and accelerate their journey toward becoming medical professionals. These programs allow students to secure their future in medical education while completing their undergraduate studies at Keuka College.

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)

Keuka College is proud to offer an exciting Early Acceptance Program (EAP) in partnership with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). This unique opportunity allows students to secure early admission to LECOM's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) program while completing their undergraduate studies at Keuka College. Our partnership provides ambitious students with a clear pathway to a rewarding career in osteopathic medicine.

How does it work?

Eligible students can apply to the EAP while fulfilling the entrance requirements at Keuka College. Once accepted, they will have the opportunity to interview with LECOM either before their enrollment or during their first two years of study. Successful candidates will receive a provisional acceptance letter, which guarantees them a reserved seat in LECOM's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program upon meeting all necessary criteria.

The program consists of two distinct phases:

  • Phase I: This phase encompasses the undergraduate education at Keuka College. Students must complete a minimum of 60 credit hours as full-time students while maintaining the required academic performance.
  • Phase II: This phase involves medical education at LECOM, where students engage in rigorous training and clinical experiences essential for their future careers as osteopathic physicians.

Throughout the program, students receive ongoing support and counseling from representatives of both institutions. This collaborative approach ensures students are well-prepared for medical school and have access to resources supporting their academic and professional growth. Upon successful completion of all requirements, students earn both their undergraduate degree from Keuka College and their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from LECOM, launching their careers in healthcare.

Why Choose a Career in Osteopathic Medicine?

A career in osteopathic medicine offers a holistic approach to healthcare, combining traditional medical practices with hands-on manipulative techniques. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), you'll have the opportunity to treat the whole person, not just symptoms.

Growing demand: According to the American Osteopathic Association, the number of osteopathic physicians has grown by 63% in the past decade. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 3% growth in employment for physicians and surgeons from 2022 to 2032.

Competitive salaries: The median annual wage for physicians and surgeons was $229,300 as of May 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Osteopathic physicians often earn salaries comparable to their M.D. counterparts.

Diverse practice options: D.O.s can choose from various specialties and practice settings, including primary care, surgery, pediatrics, and more. This versatility allows for a career that aligns with your interests and lifestyle preferences.

Osteopathic medicine emphasizes preventive care and the body's ability to heal itself. The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine reports high job satisfaction among D.O.s, with many appreciating the opportunity to build strong patient relationships and provide comprehensive care.
